Better put this dangerous ghost inside a golden Boo Cap with the other Level 9 [ghosts].

Miss Jones, "Dunky Boss"

Boo Caps are special Boo Technology containers invented by Miss Jones to capture and store ghosts.

Appearance[]

Somnibou 082

Every single Boo Caps are designed to resemble a black cylinder with hemispherical ends with a slider resembling a Ghostforce emblem at the front. They are made out of a special Boo Technology material that seems to resemble metal because when Glowboo once accidentally threw a Boo Cap at Drake Miller, the latter can be seen rubbing his forehead in pain.

The Boo Caps are normally closed. However, when pressing the slider down, the capsule reveals a clear display to identify a ghost stored inside. The outlines on the capsule come in different colors including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink, white, or gold. However, each capsule is designed to store a ghost with a specific cycle level.

There aren't any Boo Caps that were made specifically for Level 2 to 6 ghosts, but they can be recognizable by having only a rounded outline around the bottom of the slider. The only possible exception is Bouncee when Miss Jones accidentally stored it in a yellow Boo Cap and caused the computer database to assume it's a Level 3. The Ghostforce would usually capture ghosts between Levels 2 and 6 with a Boo Cap that matches their primary color schemes. For example, both Mikroo and Jam Jam are Level 2 ghosts and they were trapped in different colored Boo Caps; Mikroo's was pink, while Jam Jam's was red. Because there aren't any purple Boo Caps in Miss Jones's collection, any purple ghosts like Cyclopee or Batata whose cycle level is below 7 must be stored in either a blue or pink Boo Cap instead.

However, for any ghosts whose cycle level is from 7 to 9, they are given a unique Boo Cap that is color-coded with a different pattern design to signify the Ghostforce that these ghosts have the most powerful Boo Energy signature. These colors parallel the "bronze, silver, and gold" hierarchy of medals used in sports events. Level 7 Boo Caps are bronze orange; Level 8 are silver white; and Level 9 are golden yellow.

Abilities[]

Biballoon 071

Octocat sleeping in its Boo Cap.

All of the Boo Caps are made out of special Boo Technology materials that prevent any ghost from ever phasing through and escaping. Once inside, it would completely exhaust any ghost's Boo Energy, and all the damages caused by said ghost from outside of the Boo Cap are immediately undone. The ghosts inside the Boo Caps would often fall asleep but would immediately be awakened once they were released.

Scream Scratch 116

Glowboo ready to throw a Boo Cap at a ghost.

Miss Jones stored a bunch of emptied Boo Caps in the console room of the underground laboratory for safekeeping. However, each member of the Ghostforce has a Boo Cap storage feature in their armor. When a member is ready to capture a ghost, they manifest a Boo Cap from their armor and it would appear in the palm of their hand. The most common method is to throw a Boo Cap at a ghost so the slider would shrink it down and suck it inside the container. However, if a member misses their aim, then the Boo Cap would immediately teleport back to their armor once it hit the ground.

Turbokorn 023

Katastroph inside their Boo Cap together.

As confirmed in both "Katastroph" and "Mascarade", the Boo Caps can hold up to three ghosts. While it's unknown if ghosts of different specimens can be stored together, the Boo Cap can store ghosts with one or two siblings that share the same Boo Energy signature.

Once a ghost is stored in a Boo Cap, the container can be inserted into the computer console in the lab for different purposes. This includes storing a ghost in the Ghost Cloud, placing them in the training room, and transferring its Boo Energy as fuel for another Boo Technology gadget. Tamed ghosts, in particular, are stored in their Boo Caps to fuel the Ghostforce medallions.

To release a ghost, the holder must open the Boo Cap by holding onto the bottom before turning the top of the container clockwise.

Weaknesses[]

Dunky Boss 016

A Boo Cap cracking due to Bouncee not being placed in the correct one.

Because of the Boo Caps' small size, the Ghostforce must only capture ghosts if they are in their kawai forms. The only exception to this rule is if a ghost remains the same size in booster mode, such as Glougloux.

As confirmed in "Dunky Boss", the ghosts must be stored in the correct Boo Cap based on their cycle level. Because of Miss Jones's distraction with playing Spook Out, she accidentally placed Bouncee in a yellow Boo Cap reserved for Levels 2 to 6, causing the database to misidentify the ghost as a Level 3 instead of a Level 9. When that happened the database would detect a system error and a ghost with a stronger Boo Energy signature would cause the Boo Cap it's stored in to begin cracking. If a ghost isn't placed in the correct Boo Cap in time, then the capsule will eventually shatter and the ghost will escape.

Trivia[]

  • The Boo Caps went through different names during pre-production:
    • From 2015 to 2016, it was known as Ghostoyz.[1][2][3][4]
    • In 2017, it was known as Ectocaps.[5]
    • From 2018 to 2019, the name was spelled as Booh Caps.[6]
  • Despite being a Level 7 ghost, Droplet was mistakenly captured in a blue Boo Cap reserved for ghosts between a cycle level of 2 to 6. This error also appeared in a promotional render of Fury holding Droplet in its capsule.
  • There are multiple ghosts with unconfirmed cycle levels, but they were trapped in a specific Boo Cap:
  • Because the second iteration of the Ghostforce hasn't encountered a Level 1 ghost yet, it is currently unknown if there is a specific Boo Cap designed for it.
