“ | What are the odds? I just studied one of those specimens this morning. It's called Bouncee. It's an extremely powerful magma-bouncing ghost. And it's a Level 9! | ” |
—Miss Jones, "Dunky Boss" |
Bouncee is a Level 9 wild ghost from the spectral family.
It was previously captured by Miss Jones when she was a former active member of the Ghostforce.
In "Dunky Boss", Mike Collins took Bouncee out of the underground laboratory and accidentally caused it to escape from its Boo Cap at Times Square. It later merged with a basketball and briefly became Dunky Boss.
Appearance[]
Kawai mode[]
Bouncee is a rounded yellow ghost with ten black spikes on its body. It has yellow eyes, black scleras, an orange tongue, and large black eyebrows. Both the spikes and eyebrows seem to resemble the surface of a volcanic rock.
As Dunky Boss[]
Upon merging with a basketball, Dunky Boss became much larger and gained a pair of orange arms with three fingers. Its entire body had a volcanic rock surface with orange markings, resembling lava, which appeared to be styled after a basketball. Its spikes became orange, while its jaws gained four upper fangs and two lower fangs. It also had a spiked basketball sleeve on each of its arms.
Personality[]
Bouncee is a playful and energetic ghost who prefers to bounce instead of using its intangibility to phase through solid objects. However, as described by Miss Jones, it is very dangerous since its magma bounce is known to create a large amount of destruction in its path. After merging with a basketball, the ghost became aggressive and wanted to do whatever it could to generate enough fear to reproduce itself. It even resorted to using its magma bounce to attack its enemies which could have potentially burned its victims if they were ever within the impact radius. Despite its aggressiveness, the ghost is shown to have a fondness for basketball and presumably other spherical shapes that can bounce like it. When Glowboo created a solar shield to protect himself from the ghost's attack, Dunky Boss mistook him for a basketball and got distracted wanting to play with him.
History[]
Pre-Series[]
Around a decade ago, Bouncee was captured by the first iteration of the Ghostforce and got sent to the Ghost Cloud.
Season 1[]

In "Dunky Boss", Bouncee was being studied by Miss Jones to analyze its Boo Energy. It attempted to escape from the Ghost Cloud by bouncing around the cage to no avail. After completing her morning research, Miss Jones was about to grab a Level 9 Boo Cap to store the ghost inside so she can bring it to the training room. Just then, she received a notification on her computer that someone had beaten her high score on Spook Out. Miss Jones was so distracted with the game that she accidentally grabbed a yellow Boo Cap and inserted it into the Ghost Cloud's console, causing the console to misidentify Bouncee as a Level 3. While Bouncee was asleep inside the yellow Boo Cap, its Boo Energy created a small crack to appear at the top.

Miss Jones, not noticing the mistake, later placed Bouncee's Boo Cap in the training room for the kids to fight it in their next training session. This unwittingly led to Mike Collins assuming Bouncee was a Level 3 ghost and took it out of the lab as part of his plan to participate in a junior dunking competition at Times Square. He used Bouncee to fuel a pair of shoes that allowed him to bounce at a tremendous height. However, shortly after Mike scored a huge point at the competition, the Boo Cap got shattered and Bouncee escaped. The ghost then went on a rampage by bouncing around the courtyard and leaving behind magmatic craters that scared multiple people attending the competition.

The junior dunking competition was broadcast live throughout the city, so Bouncee's attack caught Miss Jones's attention when she, Liv Baker, Glowboo, and Glups were watching the competition to support Andy Baker. While everyone else evacuated the place, Bouncee noticed Michael Collins was staying behind to look for his son. So, the ghost bounced in front of Mr. Collins and startled him, causing the latter to knock over a cart full of basketballs. Bouncee had consumed enough fear from Mr. Collins's scream that it immediately merged with one of the basketballs and became Dunky Boss.

Dunky Boss charged down to attack Mr. Collins, but Fury came to the latter's rescue and took him away to a hiding spot. It then chased after Krush and Fury before the latter two were joined by Myst and Glowboo. During its fight against the Ghostforce, Dunky Boss threw two airballs at Myst and drained all of her Boo Energy, prompting Fury to save his sister from falling. Krush and Glowboo were both unable to attack the ghost since it moved too fast, so Glowboo created a giant solar shield to protect himself from being hit by an incoming airball. This unintentionally distracted Dunky Boss who mistook the solar shield as a giant basketball and began playing with Glowboo. Krush then shot a fractal trap behind Dunky Boss, but the ice wasn't strong enough to weaken it. The ghost melted the ice with its magma blast before throwing Glowboo at Krush, thinking the former's solar shield had the same powers as its airballs.

Dunky Boss then flew down to 5th Avenue and converted the screams from the nearby citizens into fear, which was enough for it to trigger its reproductive powers and begin laying eggs on several buildings. The Ghostforce, though, managed to have the upper hand and used Dunky Boss's love for basketballs to distract the ghost before putting it inside a giant net made out of Fury's flexible slime. Fury then released Dragoyle and deboost Dunky Boss to its kawai mode before capturing it, restoring Manhattan to normal and causing all of the ghost's offspring to fade from existence. It was later sent back to the Ghost Cloud after the events of the episode.
Abilities[]
- Levitation: Bouncee can levitate in both its kawai and booster modes. However, the ghost mostly displaces itself by bouncing around.
- Possession: As a merger ghost, Bouncee can gain additional powers by possessing objects. The only receptacle it was seen merged with was a basketball.
The ghost always leaves behind a magmatic crater every time it bounces onto solid surfaces, with the only exception being inside the Ghost Cloud. As Dunky Boss, it will throw giant basketball projectiles that could drain Boo Energy from other ghosts. It was also shown to be surprisingly skilled in basketball. When it was first seen mistaking Glowboo (who was inside a solar shield) for a giant basketball, the ghost dribbled him back and forth before spinning him on its finger.

- Dunky Boss's name is a pun on "Funky Boss", a song from an American hip-hop group Beastie Boys.
- A "dunk" is a type of basketball shot, referring to Bouncee's receptacle being an actual basketball.
- This is the first known ghost that was accidentally stored in the wrong Boo Cap, revealing to the audience that the Boo Caps are color-coded for a specific ghost's cycle level.
- Bouncee and Glougloux are the only known ghosts that were previously captured by the first iteration of the Ghostforce.
- Bouncee and Flamagma are the only known ghosts with powers related to fire.
- Bouncee is the third Level 9 ghost that the second iteration of the Ghostforce had captured, following Xhypno and Chaorion.
- Despite Miss Jones saying that the Bouncee specimen can lay up to "hundreds" of eggs, there were around twenty eggs shown in 5th Avenue.
