“ | An old friend of mine designed [Glowboo]. And I still have a few of his notes to decipher before [the android] can reach his full potential. | ” |
—Miss Jones, "Cyclopee" |
Carpenter (first name unknown) is the unseen overarching protagonist of Ghostforce. He was the co-founder and one of the original members of the Ghostforce along with his partner known as Miss Jones. He is also the designer of Glowboo.
His current status and whereabouts are unknown. According to the official Ghostforce website, Carpenter is said to have "vanished" after being captured by an unidentified "ghost with multiple powers".[2]
Personality[]
While it's currently unknown what Carpenter's personality is like, he is fascinated with ghosts like his partner Miss Jones. This fascination led to him being the co-founder of the Ghostforce.
He also seems to be cautious about his work. When he first designed Glowboo, he wrote all his notes about the android's features in codes to prevent potential enemies from stealing his design and building a malicious version of his creation.
According to Miss Jones's character biography on the official Ghostforce website, Carpenter is said to have a daredevil personality like one of his current successors Andy Baker.[2]
History[]
Carpenter's backstory hasn't been fully explored in the series yet. However, there were clues in a few episodes of Season 1 and on the official Ghostforce website that can be pieced together about his past.
Pre-Season 1[]
It's heavily implied he and Miss Jones met at a college or university during their years as undergraduate students since Miss Jones once mentioned in "Sharkoak" that she went on her first date at age 21.
After graduating, he and Miss Jones became ghost hunters and formed the first iteration of the Ghostforce. During their career as superheroes, they both discovered and developed Boo Energy to create Boo Technology to capture and analyze every single ghost they encountered.
At one point, Carpenter began designing a blueprint for an android that can be powered with Boo Energy.
One faithful day, the Ghostforce had a run-in with a man named Nolan Kasenti. While the details of the encounter are unclear, it resulted in Carpenter getting captured by an unidentified "ghost with multiple powers" and Miss Jones becoming a half-ghost when her human DNA got fused with Boo Energy.[2]
Legacy[]
After Carpenter's capture by the unidentified ghost, Miss Jones was forced to go into hide to avoid getting caught by Mr. Kasenti. The incident leads to the original Ghostforce's dissolution since Miss Jones's disability prevents her from hunting ghosts alone without accidentally creating chaos with her ghost hand. On the same day of his vanishment, Miss Jones found a tame ghost and named him Glups. Together, the two have been living in the team's underground hideout which is turned into a secret laboratory where Miss Jones studies herself to find a cure for her handicap.[2]
During her self-exile, Miss Jones found Carpenter's blueprint for the Boo Energy-powered android and began working on a prototype in his honor. Because his notes were all written in codes, she spent a long time deciphering them to unlock some of the android's features and build the first working prototype.
Ever since the events of "Origins", Miss Jones recruited Andy Baker, Liv Baker, and Mike Collins to form the second iteration of the Ghostforce when ghosts return to haunt Manhattan. While the main trio began their careers as superheroes, Miss Jones continued working hard building Glowboo while trying to find the "ghost with multiple powers" to get Carpenter back.
After a few trials and errors, Miss Jones eventually succeeds in building the prototype of Carpenter's android in "Raijin" where she names him Glowboo. She would continue to upgrade the android as she deciphers more of Carpenter's notes before Glowboo can reach his full potential. In "Cyclopee", she revealed to the main trio about her goal with Glowboo while discreetly avoiding mentioning Carpenter as the creator. Starting in "Somnibou", Mike has been assisting Miss Jones in trying to unlock all of Glowboo's features, not knowing he's playing a part in Carpenter's legacy.
Abilities[]
Carpenter invented various Boo Technology during his time as an active member of the Ghostforce. As revealed by Miss Jones, he's the one who designed Glowboo and created various notes about the android's potential features. His notes, however, are written in codes and are hard for anyone other than him to decipher. Not even Mike Collins, one of Carpenter's successors, can successfully decipher them since he unintentionally created a virus on Glowboo in "Somnibou" when attempting to crack them alone.
Relationships[]
Miss Jones[]
Before the events of the series, Carpenter and Miss Jones were the original members of the Ghostforce. Together, they hunted and captured various ghosts as superheroes.
Based on how Miss Jones happily swooned in "Sharkoak" when she remembered her first date at age 21, they both have a loving relationship and have known each other since their undergraduate years.
Because he and Miss Jones were close, it seems he intended to reveal to her his plans for building Glowboo before he was captured by the "ghost with multiple powers".

Trivia[]
- Carpenter's existence was hinted at four times in the first season before the revelation of Miss Jones's past on the official Ghostforce website. He is never directly addressed every time he is mentioned by Miss Jones, likely because she wants to avoid discussing her past with the current Ghostforce members.
- Miss Jones mentioned going on her first date at age 21 during her undergraduate years in "Sharkoak". While the man's identity is never mentioned, he is heavily implied to be Carpenter since he is described as her "lost [loved] one" on Glowboo's character biography on the official Ghostforce website.
- He was first indirectly mentioned in "Raijin" when Miss Jones discreetly told Liv that she didn't make Glowboo all by herself. Rather, she "had a little help from an old friend of [her]".
- It later indirectly revealed in "Cyclopee" that Carpenter was the designer of Glowboo before his vanishment.
- In "Levisfer", Carpenter is once again indirectly mentioned when Miss Jones stated that she "once had someone to help [her] with everything".
- It's unknown what Carpenter's connection with Glups is. According to Glups's character biography, the ghost was found on the same day as Carpenter's vanishment.
- Despite Miss Jones missing Carpenter greatly, she and Glups had an improv Valentine's Day dinner in "Rozamour" where the two pretended to go on a romantic date with Glowboo acting as their waiter. It's heavily implied the dinner date is Miss Jones's way of coping with her loss since she and Glups only see each other as a familial relationship.
