Synopsis[]

When his father gives him a smartwatch, Mike is thrilled, but feels down when he realizes that the gift had something to do with basketball. To face Chronoklok, Mike needs the assurance that his father loves him, even if he doesn't share his passion.

Plot[]

The episode begins in some backalley, where 2 kids are making a graffiti of the Ghostforce. The guy who's sitting accidentally sends a can of paint spray behind a container, where it falls on a Rubix cube, and the ghost awakens. It starts by going through the guy, which makes him unable to move at all or react, and then goes to do the same to the girl.

At the Collins' building, Mike's father comes outside to give his son a new gift, and Mike guesses it's one of his numerous products. Michael gives him an extremely advanced and rare watch, which also gives advice. Mike loves it and thanks his dad. At school, Andy and Liv notice Mike is in a good mood, and ask him what it is about. Mike shows them his new watch that his dad gave him earlier, and soon the rest of the class comes to admire it. Charlie ask if she can try it, which Mike gives her the permission. Drake is jealous, and tells Mike that his dad gave him that watch because he wants Mike to be a great basketball player when he grows up just like him saying the watch is for real basketball fans, but because it's Mike, it's not gonna be easy to which Liv respond that Michael gave Mike the watch because he knows Mike loves gadgets. The ghost arrives and stuns Drake in place, confusing everyone, the ghost then appears before them, and scares the rest of the students away.

While Charlie is torn between giving the watch or running away, Marlo accidentally collides with her, making her drop the watch across the classroom, and she then runs with the rest of the students. Professor Pascal wakes up, only to get stunned by the ghost. Andy, Liv and Mike, who are still at the end of the classroom, get a call from Miss Jones, who tells them about the ghost and that it stuns everyone it goes through. At this moment, Mike's watch starts talking to give an advice, which makes Mike go after it. The watch also attracts the ghost, and it goes on to possess it, getting into booster mode, to Mike's frustration that it's his watch. Andy asks Miss Jones if it's grave that the ghost fused with Mike's watch, to which Miss Jones tells them to get to safety. Liv tells Andy to get Mike while she transforms to portal them away. When the ghost use its power, the entire school and what's close to it is inside a basketball-shaped field where everything and everyone is frozen. Miss Jones also is frozen and thus the GhostForce must fight without her or Glowboo. Mike and Andy then transform into Krush, Myst and Fury.

The trio see the field around the school and deduce that they should stop Chronoklok by preventing it's pointers of getting aligned. Chronoklok leaves the forcefield around the school and start flying in the city. Krush starts to fly after it, and Myst stops him by making him go through a portal that makes him go behind Fury, colliding with him in the process, and they ask him what he's doing, and Krush says he's trying to get his watch back, and flies back to go after the ghost. Fury and Myst flies after him, noticing that he's making it personal, and they must calm him down or things will end badly. Krush tries to hit the ghost with his weapon, but just gets swatted into his friends, who tells him that they'll get his watch back together. Krush calms down and ask for the plan. Myst says Krush will immobilize the ghost, she will shoot at his glass and Fury will use his power to stop it's pointers. The plan works, but when the ghost talks with Michael's voice saying that following his advices and he'll be part of the Collins' family. Krush is shocked to hear this, making him lose his concentration and the ghost breaks free. It then goes to stun the area again, Myst opens a portal and Fury pushes Krush into it. The boys gets to safety.

Fury asks Krush why he let his powers blow up, Krush said he heard the watch, saying Drake was right about why his father gave him the watch, but Fury tells him it's not his father saying those things, it's the watch, and that Drake is never right, and ask Myst to confirms it, only to see that she's not with them. Krush and Fury notices that Myst got trapped in Chronoklok's field, and Fury immediately goes to finish it, only to be stopped by Krush, saying that if he doesn't calm down, he'll make the same mistake as he did. The boys makes a plan to capture the ghost and finds it on the bridge. Fury says he'll immobilize it while Krush takes care of the pointers.

Fury manages to immobilize the ghost with his powers, and Krush hits the ghost hard, making its gear come out from under it's head, and they conclude that it's what makes the pointers turn. Krush says he'll stop its mechanism, the ghost starts to struggle hard to get free while Fury and Mike struggles to keep him in place and get to its mechanism, respectively. The ghost manage to get a arm free, and sends Krush off of him, while Fury gets on it's head and stop the pointers with his powers, and Krush immobilizes its mechanism. Fury then summons Dragoyle to finish the ghost off, capturing it. The forcefields across the cities disappear and everyone who was frozen moves again. Myst is also free again, and gets tackled by an excited Fury, who's happy that his sister is no longer a statue. Krush apologizes for focusing more on his watch instead of the mission and says Drake was right, but Myst assures him that he's a star in the Ghostforce. Glowboo then shows up and is ready to fight, and Miss Jones is also ready for the ghost hunt, only to be surprised that the ghost doesn't show up on the map anymore, and Fury says it's in his capsule.

Back at the Collins' house, Michael is worried about his son's whereabouts when the ghost showed up, and Mike shows up behind him safe. Michael was worried about him ,and his son assures him that he's ok. Mike then says the advices his watch gives him are not really his things, and his dad apologizes, saying the advices are for his fans, and assures him he's not forcing him into doing the same thing he does, and says he loves him just the way he is.

Trivia[]

  • On October 28, 2020, Jeremy Zag posted a production screenshot of the Ghostforce graffiti from this episode.[4]
  • This is the second time a ghost is awakened in the beginning before the title card, following "Sporofungus".
  • This is the first appearance of the Collins Tower.
  • When Michael Collins asks his son to guess what he got for him, Mike rhetorically asks "a new sneaker line". Because Glowboo appears in this episode, the events of "Zipzap" have already passed since Michael already launched his Collin Kicks sneaker line.
  • Despite Mike lives in a mansion with his father who is a basketball star, the father-and-son relationship is shown to be somewhat distant on his side. Drake's comment at school later reveals that Mike's insecurity causes him to wrongfully believe his father doesn't love him and expects him to play basketball like him. This is confirmed to be not true near the end of the episode when his father reveals that he gave Mike the watch because he loves him just the way he is.
    • During the guessing game, Mike thinks his father is going to show off either his new MVP jersey, his new sneaker line, or his latest magazine cover. His father is shown to be visibly upset after the third guess, implying he's guilty that his status prevents him from spending time with his son so Mike can get to know him better.
  • The scene that shows Professor Pascal sleeping in class is reused from "Bananice".
  • When Andy notices Mike is happy in the classroom, he asks if he has beaten his high score in Spook Out. The aforementioned game first appeared in "Zipzap".
  • This is the first episode where Miss Jones and Glups are both seen affected by a wild ghost. This caused problems for the team since Miss Jones was unable to send Glowboo before they were frozen in time by Chronoklok.
    • It's also revealed that ghosts aren't immune to another ghost's power. Not only Glups get frozen in time by Chronoklok, but Miss Jones is also affected despite being a half-ghost.
  • Despite Glowboo appearing this episode, this is the first episode where he doesn't participate in a mission. Because Chronoklok froze everyone inside the underground lab, it's indirectly prevented anyone from releasing Glowboo from his chamber to stop the ghost.
  • This is the second episode where the transformation sequence only features Andy and Mike after "Mikroo".
  • This is the seventh episode where one or more member(s) of the Ghostforce team become affected by a wild ghost's power.
  • This is the second episode where a wild ghost almost leaves Manhattan by flying across the Brooklyn Bridge after "Artiflame". Had Fury and Krush not captured him in time, then it's likely that he would have terrorized the borough of Brooklyn too.

Errors[]

  • Although the crystal and lug of Mike's watch were destroyed by Ghostforce during it's possession by Chronoklok, the watch appears fine in the end of the episode.
    • However, when a ghost is defeated and captured, the damages specifically created by the titular ghost are repaired back to normal, not damages related to the ghost.
