“ | We've got a Level 4 ghost and it's called Flame. One of the fastest I've ever seen, and I've seen plenty. | ” |
—Miss Jones, "Artiflame" |
Flame is a Level 4 wild ghost from the spectral family.
In "Artiflame", it was awakened from its nest after Andy Baker set off a firecracker that knocked the coal out of the bag. It later merged with a firework rocket and briefly became Artiflame.
Appearance[]
Kawai mode[]
Flame is a bright red ghost with a rounded body, large eyebrows, red eyes, and black scleraes. It has two horns on its head, four white fangs, a red spike on its back, and a small tail. It also has two small paws that each have two white claws.
As Artiflame[]
As Artiflame, it resembles a Chinese dragon. It gains a serpentine body, a pair of yellow eyes, rows of sharp white teeth in its jaws, a yellow underbelly, and an additional claw on its paws. The horns on its head have two fireworks that can be launched to attack its enemies. It also has multiple spikes on its back and tail.
Abilities[]
- Flight: Flame/Artiflame can fly in both its kawai and booster modes. In its booster mode, its flight mimics the movement of a Chinese dragon.
- Intangibility: Flame/Artiflame can phase through walls, floors, and generally solid objects. The only exception is when it is trapped in the Ghost Cloud or one of the Boo Caps.
- Possession: As a merger ghost, Flame can gain additional powers by possessing objects. The only receptacle it was seen merged with was a firework rocket.
- Exploboo: Flame can create small-sized harmless explosions near itself.
- Rocketwork: As Artiflame, it can shoot rockets from its horns at a long distance and has a lot more firepower. However, it is a resilient ghost that can get stunned by its own rockets if they are turned against it.
- Rocket Speed: Miss Jones described Flame as one of the fastest ghosts within the species in both its kawai and booster modes. This allows it to quickly dodge and overcome any incoming attacks.

Trivia[]
- Flame's name refers to the ghost's ability to create small explosions like a firecracker. Its booster name and its nest being a lump of coal are both references to Arteflame, an American grill manufacturer.
- In the French version, the ghost's name is spelled as Flamme/Artiflamme.
- "Arti-" alludes to the French term "feu d'artifice", meaning fireworks.
- As revealed on the 2021 Ghostforce brand deck by Ypsilon Films, Artiflame's name was originally going to be "Artifeu".[2]
- The official Ghostforce website revealed that Flame is from an uncommon specimen.[3]
- Flame's receptacle being a dragon-shaped firecracker is a reference to how fireworks were believed to be invented in China in the second century B.C.E. The country is also currently the largest manufacturer and exporter of fireworks in the world.
- Dragons symbolize power, strength, and good luck in Chinese culture.
- Flame and Dragoyle are the only known ghosts to have a similar appearance to dragons.
- A ghost chess piece for Flame was first seen in "Cyclopee".
- Artiflame was mentioned in "Troublestretch" as an answer for one of the questions from Charlie's Ghostforce quiz game.
- Artiflame is featured on Miss Jones's supercomputer database in the training room of the underground laboratory. This implies she regularly uses a firecracker for the ghost to merge for a training session.
- Flame makes a background appearance in "Grump King" where its Boo Energy was used to increase the speed of the Ghost Car.
