“ | Oh! I wonder what its family is. Spectral? Molecular? | ” |
The ghost families is a system instituted by the Ghostforce for categorizing multiple ghost specimens based on their Boo Energy powers. There are six known ghost families organized on Miss Jones's database in the underground laboratory. Whenever the second iteration of the Ghostforce encounters a wild ghost attacking Manhattan, they contact her about said ghost and she informs them which family that ghost is from so they would know what powers they'll be facing before capturing it.
Families[]
Bizarro[]

The bizarro family (also known as the strange family) seems to mainly consist of ghosts whose power type is unique compared to other ghosts within the species. Sometimes these ghosts have powers that combine two different families, such as Freakking whose taxonomy is both ice and lightning. Based on the information on the official Ghostforce website, bizarro ghosts are considered the rarest of their species since there are some specimens that the Ghostforce doesn't encounter often. For example, Pharaok is confirmed to be the only known member of its specimen.[1]
The bizarro family symbol used by Miss Jones on her database is a pink Cyclops eye.
The known specimens that are part of this family include:
Flexible[]

The flexible family mainly consisted of ghosts whose powers can allow them to attack in a wide range. While there aren't a lot of flexible ghosts seen in the series, a large majority of them are of the merger taxonomy with the only possible exception being Dragoyle.
The flexible family symbol used by Miss Jones on her database is a turquoise slime in a zig-zag shape.
The known specimens that are part of this family include:
Fractal[]

The "fractal family" mainly consists of ghosts whose powers and physical appearances are related to geometric shapes. While there aren't many fractal ghosts in the series, the most common specimens have powers related to ice. A few can even transform the physical form of living beings, such as Turbokorn's ability to turn people into metal statues.
The fractal family symbol used by Miss Jones on her database is a yellow geometric cube.
The known specimens that are part of this family include:
Molecular[]

The molecular family mainly consisted of ghosts whose type is related to the laws of physics. The most common power seen in molecular ghosts is matter manipulation, such as modifying the physical form of any sentient beings or creating duplications. Some specimens also can reverse gravity and levitate subjects into the air. However, only a few are capable of draining the Boo Energy from other ghosts by physically touching them.
The molecular family symbol used by Miss Jones on her database is a blue molecule.
The known specimens that are part of this family include:
- Mikroo
- Sporofungus
- Glougloux
- Meta&Lix
- Levisfer
- Batata
- Batata
- Batata (comic character)
- Ninja Ki
- Tinetik
- Swip Swap
Spectral[]

The spectral family is the most common ghost family that the Ghostforce ever encountered in the series. It mainly consists of specimens whose powers and taxonomy are tied to nature. Despite ghosts being of extraterrestrial origins, a majority of them in this family have physical appearances and mannerisms that heavily resemble animals native to Earth. There are also some whose taxonomy represents parts of the four classical elements in the world — water, earth, fire, and air. The most common power seen in this family is weather manipulation, especially whenever they are in booster modes.
The spectral family symbol used by Miss Jones on her database is a purple flame.
The known specimens that are part of this family include:
- Octocat
- Sharkoak
- Mastaar
- Arak
- Zipzap
- Flame
- Xhypno
- Krik-Krok
- Raijin
- Breathrill
- Sandyrok
- Hypnolion
- Jinjoke
- Dinozos
- Bouncee
- Scaregrow
- Kaboom
- Piktoo
Viscous[]

The viscous family mainly consisted of ghosts whose abilities are related to viscous substances. Many specimens are of the toxic taxonomy, but they are known to have a chaotic demeanor and would create sticky semifluid to trap living beings.
The viscous family symbol used by Miss Jones on her database is a dripping green slime.

Trivia[]
- Cyclopee, Scream Scratch, Creepop, Somnibou, Flamagma, Gumglue, Mascarade, Prehistorrible, Piraniak, Paniko, Solarboo, and the unnamed chaos-type ghost are currently the only known ghosts whose family isn't revealed.
- Cyclopee might be a molecular ghost since it creates duplicates of objects and copies powers from other ghosts.
- Flamagma might be part of the spectral family since its powers are based on the fire element.
- Gumglue might be part of the viscous family since its powers can trap human beings.
- Prehistorrible is implied to be part of the spectral family, according to Miss Jones. However, its power is similar to Freezofear, so it might be part of the fractal family.
- In "Glougloux", an animation error occurred where the titular ghost was mislabeled as a flexible ghost.
