Jam Jam is a Level 2 wild ghost from the viscous family.

In "Jam Jam", it was awakened from its nest after Jane knocked the jar out of Andy Baker's hands and the jam spilled onto the floor of the NYC school library.

Appearance[]

Kawai mode[]

Jam Jam resembles an upside-down seedless strawberry with light green eyes, black scleras, and two yellow upper fangs. The four green leaves serve as the ghost's limbs.

Booster mode[]

In its booster mode, Jam Jam grows to resemble a giant strawberry with its face and body located on the "pedicel". The ghost gains a pair of arms that each have a gold metal band, with the top of its head tied up to resemble a "ponytail". Its stomach is the "receptacle" of the strawberry that can change color from red to green whenever the ghost blows its fragrance breath.

History[]

Bridge episodes[]

Based on its cycle level, Jam Jam was presumably born on Earth and had already transformed several living beings into strawberries. After reaching peak fear, the ghost found its first and only nest in the form of a then-recently processed strawberry jam. The jam was placed inside a jar by a salesman who went to Central Park and set up shop there.

In "Jam Jam", the jam was purchased by Andy Baker as a dish for Charlie's breakfast potluck at the NYC school library. He didn't know that Jane had fragariaphobia, a fear of strawberries, so when he proudly showed off the jam to his classmates, she knocked the jar out of his hands. Mike Collins quickly caught the jar before it was shattered, but because it was opened and he was holding it upside-down, the jam spilled onto the floor and awakened Jam Jam instead.

Jam Jam attacked nearly every single student in the school library by transforming them into giant strawberries, but the Ghostforce and Jane were all able to hide from it. When Andy was about to throw a Boo Cap at it from behind, Professor Pascal suddenly entered the library and unknowingly ruined the element of surprise. Jam Jam startled Andy and ingested his scream, allowing it to enter booster mode. After transforming the oblivious Professor Pascal into a strawberry, the ghost chased after the Ghostforce when it noticed them leaving the library. It was unable to find the three kids after they sneaked into their lockers and entered the underground laboratory, so Jam Jam left the school building.

Jam Jam was bouncing around 5th Avenue and transforming various citizens into strawberries when the Ghostforce suddenly arrived. The ghost was about to attack the heroes at Times Square, but Fury tied up its arms with his flexible slime and left it suspended in the air. Jam Jam didn't give up so it blew out a strawberry perfume breath and mesmerized the people at Times Square, including Fury and Krush. With everyone under its trance, the ghost broke the flexible slime and continued its attack. Glowboo and Myst only managed to rescue Fury, but they were too late to save Krush. And since there were many human-turned-strawberries around Manhattan, the fruits began growing with Boo Energy and will explode into jams within minutes.

Later, Glowboo and Myst lured Jam Jam to the NYC school as part of Fury's plan to defeat the ghost. When Jam Jam saw Jane staying at the front entrance of the school, it bounced onto her to turn her into a strawberry too. However, to its surprise, Jane wasn't transformed because of her fragariaphobia. The ghost tried blowing its fragrance breath at her multiple times, but she was still unaffected and as she continued to taunt Jam Jam, it was eventually out of breath that its stomach got deflated. This allowed the heroes to tie up the ghost's stomach with Fury's flexible slime. With the ghost stunned, Fury released Dragoyle and deboosted Jam Jam back to its kawai mode before capturing it, restoring everyone to normal. Jam Jam was later sent to the Ghost Cloud where it now resides with the other captive ghosts.

Abilities[]

  • Levitation: Jam Jam can levitate in both its kawai and booster modes.
  • Intangibility: Jam Jam can phase through solid objects. The only exceptions are when it is trapped in the Ghost Cloud or one of the Boo Caps. However, as a bouncer ghost, Jam Jam can stand on solid ground if it's in booster mode.

Jam Jam can turn sentient beings into strawberries by either phasing through them in its kawai mode or bouncing onto them in its booster mode. The people-turned-strawberries would then start growing larger until they explode into strawberry jams. It can even breathe out a strawberry-flavored fragrance gas to put people under its trance. However, its powers can only work on people who genuinely love the taste of strawberries.

Trivia[]

  • As revealed on the 2021 Ghostforce brand deck by Ypsilon Films, Jam Jam's name was originally going to be "King Berry".[1]
    • This makes it the only ghost from the bridge episodes that was planned to be in the first season when it was originally going to have 78 episodes.
  • In the French version, the ghost's name is Confiterreur. It is a portmanteau of the French words "confiture" and "terreur", meaning "jam" and "terror".
  • The "ponytail" and metal chains that Jam Jam have in its booster mode are likely inspired by the Genie from the Aladdin franchise.
  • The salesman once mentioned that the strawberry jam was fresh, indicating that Jam Jam's last attack was more recent. If that's the case, then its attack must have occurred in another borough of New York City since the Boo Map can only detect Boo Energy within Manhattan.
    • It would be impossible for Jam Jam's nest to be one of the strawberries the salesman had picked because the ghost would have easily awakened while the fruit was being processed into a jam.
  • Jam Jam, Jellystery, Bouncee, and Tinetik are currently the only bouncer ghosts that the second iteration of the Ghostforce ever captured.
  • Jam Jam and Mikroo are currently the youngest known ghosts that the Ghostforce has captured since they are both Level 2 ghosts.
    • Despite being a Level 2, Jam Jam's attack is considered lethal since anyone who transformed into strawberries would eventually explode into jams.
