Mascarade are three Level 7 wild ghosts from an unspecified family.[note 1]
In "Mascarade", they were all awakened by Serge Lightman when he threw the comedy mask onto the floor of the Solar-Man production truck.
Appearance[]
Kawai modes[]
The triplets have a black circular body with a dorsal fin, a medium-sized tail, and a pair of floating limbs. The front of their faces have two small horns and two upper fangs, but the color is the only way to distinguish them individually. The sibling that represents sadness has a blue face with two light-blue diagonal stripes mimicking tears. The sibling that represents happiness has a yellow face with two red circular blushes on both sides of its cheeks. And the sibling that represents anger has a red face with two lower fangs.
Booster modes[]
In their booster modes, the triplets fuse into a singular being. They become a large purple ghost with a circular body and two pairs of arms that end with only two fingers. Each of the triplets' masks is on its forehead, which it can switch whenever it wants its victim to feel a single type of emotion.
Personalities[]

Each of the Mascarade triplets can only display one type of emotion that their masks represent; the blue sibling can be heard crying, the yellow sibling constantly smiles and laughs insanely, and the red sibling growls in frustration. However, those emotions aren't genuine and the triplets all share the same chaotic desire to use their powers that can force everyone to feel the same way they feel. Their inability to have a wider range of emotions leads to them being unable to express anything beyond happiness, sadness, or anger in any situation they are in. This was evident when none of them were shown to be visibly scared or surprised upon being deboosted by Fury and got trapped inside a Boo Cap.
In booster mode, Mascarade is shown to have better control of its shared emotions and is more focused on attacking enemies with the three masks on its forehead.
History[]
Season 1[]
At an unknown point in time, the triplets all found a comedy mask and began using it as their nest. In "Mascarade", the mask was inside a Solar-Man: The Movie production truck at Times Square that was presumably going to be used for the film. Anwar was checking for the supplies needed for the filming when she realized that she had forgotten one of the props. She briefly went inside the truck and found Solar-Man's laser gun, which was placed near Mascarade's nest, inside a cardboard box before heading out. However, her movement led to Mascarade all being disturbed from their slumber.

Later, Serge Lightman, the actor playing Solar-Man, was taking a break inside the truck after he failed to remember his line in nearly two hundred takes. He noticed the mask and vented his frustration with it before tossing it onto the ground. However, his action led to the awakening of Mascarade who all scared the actor before attacking him. The triplets then cause chaos at Times Square by changing people's emotions to be either overly happy, sad, or angry. This alerted the Ghostforce but they arrived too late to catch them in their kawai modes.

Shortly after the triplets all fused into one ghost, it fired a happy mask at a crowd of people and made them laugh hysterically. It then noticed the Ghostforce approaching, so it began chasing at 5th Avenue. During the fight, the ghost managed to shoot both Krush and Myst after Fury, who was trying to be seen as "smart", accidentally got them distracted from the incoming projectiles. This led to Krush becoming overwhelmed with sadness and crying uncontrollably, while Myst became overwhelmed with anger and constantly yelled at her teammates in frustration. While Glowboo was trying to fight back Mascarade, the three kids were having trouble controlling their emotions to neutralize all of the ghost's masks. Krush only managed to knock out the happy mask with his Fractal Mace right before it slapped all of the kids and caused them to crash-land at Times Square One.

After Myst and Krush both helped restore Fury's self-confidence, he lured Mascarade to Glowboo who temporarily blinded it with his solar blast as a distraction. Fury then tied up Mascarade's arms to prevent itself from slapping his teammates who all managed to neutralize the rest of its masks, stunning the ghost completely. This allowed Fury to release Dragoyle and deboost Mascarade back to their kawai modes before capturing them, restoring everyone in Midtown Manhattan to their normal emotions. The triplets were later sent to the Ghost Cloud where they now reside with the other captive ghosts.
Abilities[]
- Levitation: Mascarade can levitate in both their kawai and booster modes.
- Intangibility: Mascarade can phase through solid objects. The only exceptions are when they are trapped in the Ghost Cloud or one of the Boo Caps.
Each of the triplets can force people to be overwhelmed with only one type of emotion. The yellow sibling can make victims laugh even if their predicament doesn't come off as funny to them. The blue sibling can make victims cry in tears. And the red sibling can make victims have an unstoppable rage.

Trivia[]
- Before the release of their featured episode, Mascarade first appeared in a piece of concept art posted by Jeremy Zag on July 26, 2021.[1]
- The concept art revealed that the triplets were originally going to wear a mask that represents their emotions.
- Mascarade's name is a pun on the English word "masquerade".
- The yellow and blue siblings are modeled after the comedy and tragedy masks that represent performance arts. However, the red sibling is modeled after a mask for a Japanese yōkai known as an oni.
- Mascarade is one of the many specimens that were recently discovered by the Ghostforce.
- Because Miss Jones initially didn't have information about Mascarade, she mistook the triplets in their kawai modes as a singular ghost.
- Mascarade's cycle level was never mentioned in their titular episode, but they were all captured in a bronze Boo Cap reserved for Level 7 ghosts.
- Mascarade is the second ghost triplets that the second iteration of the Ghostforce had ever captured, following Katastroph.
- Unlike Katastroph, Mascarade share a collective mind when they fuse in their booster mode.
- Mascarade is the second known ghost specimen that has a physical appearance resembling a mask, following Pharaok.
- Mascarade and Elastrick are the only ghosts that have made Krush cry when he was affected by their powers.
