Drake Miller to Andy Baker, "Mascarade"

The NYC Dunk is a public basketball courtyard that is located at East 59th Street of Manhattan. It is located on the same street as the NYC school and is regularly visited by Professor Pascal's students.

Appearance[]

Mizuo 051

The NYC Dunk is surrounded by two gray chain-link fences and two large buildings. The chain-link fences cover the north and west sides of the courtyard, while the two buildings are on the south and east. Both the south and east buildings are decorated with colorful graffiti inside the courtyard. The top of the south building has a giant sign that reads "NYC Dunk", while the east building has a giant billboard advertising a Storm shoe.

There are two benches on both the west and east sides of the courtyard for onlookers to watch any basketball matches. The outlines of the court are all drawn in white. However, the inside of the three-pointed line is painted light blue and the free-throw line is painted orange.

Trivia[]

Basketball Court graffiti concept art by Jerome Cointre
  • As revealed in an early piece of concept art, the courtyard was originally going to have a sign named "NYC Wave". And instead of a billboard of a Storm shoe, the concept art featured Ladybug from Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.[1]
  • The graffiti for the basketball court was designed by Jérôme Cointre.[2]
  • The basketball court is often a target for multiple ghost attacks.
    • In "Scream Scratch", the titular ghost interrupted a launch party for Michael Collins's Dragon Venom energy drink by causing Drake Miller and Bobby to be covered in fleas. When the ghost entered booster mode, it transformed both Alice Spancer and Mr. Collins into giant spinning pet toys.
    • In "Meta&Lix", Meta stole one of the basketball goals from the courtyard when it collected various metal objects in Midtown Manhattan.
    • In "Paniclick", the titular ghost trapped various citizens into photographs with two pictures landed on the courtyard.
  • In "Trashotic", Solar-Man: The Movie was about to be filmed across the street from the basketball court but Spong arrived and stank the entire premise.
  • The NYC Dunk makes two cameo appearances in a Miraculous Ladybug TV movie special "Miraculous New York". The reason is that SAMG Animation, the former animation studio for the first season production of Ghostforce, also animated the special.[3]
  • One of the words on the graffiti of the south building is "zag", an obvious reference to ZAG Entertainment.
