"Pharaok" is a season 1 episode of the series, Ghostforce. According to the series' production/written order, it is the 3rd episode of Season 1, as well as the 3rd episode of the series, overall.
Synopsis[]
The team battles a pharaoh ghost dead set on turning everyone into mummies.
Plot[]
The prologue begins at the museum where Professor Pascal and Mr. Collins are presenting the mask of Pharases II, a marvel of the Egyptian era, during its closing ceremony. As Professor Pascal thanks Mr. Collins for lending a piece of his collection to the museum, a young boy stares at the mask for a long time while drinking his soda. But unbeknownst to everyone in the museum, the pharaoh's mask starts glowing which causes the boy's drink to turn hot, indicating that the mask is currently being processed by a ghost.
After the title card, at the very next day at Central Park, Charlie is showing a video of Krush she have posted online to her friends, saying that he is her favorite Ghostforce member while swooning over him. She says she admires his super-smart strategies, his super-cool moves, and that his signature color blue is her favorite color. Andy, however, is jealous of Charlie admiring Krush instead of Fury and tries to tell her that Fury is cool too, but Charlie insensitively calls Fury “lame” compared to Krush, unintentionally offending Andy. Charlie and Liv then leave the park to get to their history class while there still in lunch break. Charlie tells the guys that the class is going to talk about Pharases II, who's also her favorite pharaoh. After the girls left, Andy teases Mike about Charlie being his biggest fangirl since Charlie likes Krush despite she isn't aware of his civilian identity being Mike who has a huge secret crush on Charlie. Mike feels sad since Charlie only loves him in his superhero alter ego instead of his civilian form, but Andy encourages his friend to try out his plan to make Charlie loves him as Mike; Andy wants Mike to “borrow” the Pharases II mask from his dad's museum so he could wear it during history class to impress Charlie because Pharases II is her favorite pharaoh, and he has to return the mask when school ends. Mike is scared that he'd get caught, but Andy manages to convince him to do it because of his love for Charlie.
When Mike returns to the school, he secretly shows the mask to both Andy and Liv in the hallways. Andy, happy that his plan is about to work, tells Mike that he must enter history class last and wear the mask, hoping it would impress Charlie. When history class starts, Mike sends Andy a text that he's ready to enter the classroom. But when Mike puts on the mask, Mr. Vladovsky catches him between classes and punishes him by confiscating the mask away from Mike, thus foiling Andy's plan to help Mike. To make matters worse, Mr. Vladovsky tells Mike that his dad would have to pick up his mask from his office after school. With the mask gone, Mike had no choice but to get to class without his mask on and get punished by his dad once he finds out what he did. But just when his luck goes down the drain, Andy makes the situation worse by unintentionally embarrassing Mike in front of the class without his mask on, causing everyone to laugh at him. When Andy realizes that Mike doesn't have the mask, Mike tells him what had happened and that he's in serious trouble with his dad after school.
Professor Pascal begins his class by showing his students a slideshow about Pharases II. Liv is amazed that the pharaoh's mask is legendary, but Mike grumpily adds in that it's also cursed too since he already figured it out when he puts it on. While Professor Pascal explains how Pharases II had successfully built a pyramid in a single day with no one knows how he did it, the aforementioned mask shakes itself off Mr. Vladovsky's desk in his office and falls to the floor, causing a heatwave that spreads throughout the city. Because of the heatwave inside the classroom, Professor Pascal suggests that his students could continue their lesson at Central Park. While the students leave the classroom, Mr. Vladovsky finds out that Pharases II's mask has been processed by a ghost named Pharaok. Pharaok escapes from its home and heads out to the first floor of the school.
As the Ghostforce trio is about to leave school with their classmates, Pharaok reveals itself in front of everyone and starts mummifying several students and faculty staff members at the school. The Ghostforce trio manages to hide from Pharaok near the stairs and Liv contacts Miss Jones for help. However, Miss Jones didn't pick up Liv's call, which it causes the three to become suspicious since she usually always answer their call to her. Then Liv looks out of her hiding place and then she sees the mummified students marching out of the school and Pharaok escapes to continue turning more victims into mummies. Thinking that Miss Jones is in danger, the trio leaves to get to their underground lair. But while the trio is heading to their lockers, it turns out Charlie manages to hide from Pharaok's attack and she follows the mummies to record the Ghostforce team, knowing that whenever a ghost comes out to terrorize the city then the Ghostforce would arrive to save the day.
After the trio gets inside the lair, they notice that the lair is empty and then they call out for Miss Jones. The trio find Miss Jones locked herself in the Boo Fridge with Glups, much to their surprise. Then Liv asks why Miss Jones and Glups are doing in the Fridge, and then Miss Jones explains to them that it's because of Pharaok; the heat it released all over New York has exhausted her and Glups's Boo Energy. Then Andy walks to the interface and then he reads the information about Pharaok out loud, who's a level 7 ghost from the bizzaroid family, and its heat power can even overwhelm other ghosts. Knowing that they have a city to save, the three students transform themselves into their superhero alter egos to capture Pharaok.
While flying in the city, Krush is surprised that Pharaok's heat energy has already drained their Boo Energy. To save their powers, the Ghostforce has to avoid flying if they have to fight Pharaok whose continuing to mummified more innocent civilians. But just when the Ghostforce is ready to fight, they all hear a scream and realizes that Charlie has followed them to record them fight Pharaok. Charlie screams when a mummy approaches her, which alerts Pharaok and it's get ready to mummified her. Krush, not wanting the girl he likes to get mummified, uses himself as a shield and protects her, in the process transforming into a mummy too. Pharaok has also switched to booster mode, forcing Myst to teleport herself, Fury, and Charlie inside a truck to protect themselves from the evil ghost. The trio realizes that Pharaok is about to build a pyramid with the number of powers it has, and with Myst's and Fury's Boo Energy been drain more and more, the two remaining Ghostforce members have to do something quick.
After Myst and Fury teleport out of the truck, they both manage to avoid Pharaok's blast before it flies away. Myst wonders if Pharaok has a weak spot, and she flies to where the ghost is. Using her bow, she fires an arrow at Pharaok, but she misses and the arrow hits a mummified student instead. However, to both Fury's and Myst's surprises, Myst's arrow causes the mummified student to turn back to normal and Pharaok to lose some of it's Boo Energy. Realizing that the mummies are its weakness, Fury and Myst must free all the victims to make Pharaok become weaker to defeat the wild ghost. As Fury and Myst turn the civilians back to normal with their powers, they have also freed Krush too. Krush asks his friends if Charlie is okay, causing Myst to tease him about his giant crush again. When the trio all see Pharaok flying away, they also see that the wild ghost's heat power didn't exhausted their Boo Energy anymore, allowing them to fly again to defeat Pharaok. Using Myst's portal creations, Fury blasts Pharaok down from the sky and makes it crash onto a billboard. Krush then releases Growmax from his capsule to weaken the ghost, and then he captures it in one of his Technoghost capsules. And with Pharaok's defeat, the city is back to normal.
A little while later, the trio watches Charlie showing a recording of the Ghostforce fighting Pharaok to her classmates. Mike, still upset that Andy's plan fails, sees that on the bright side, at least Andy managed to sneaked into Mr. Vladovsky's office and stole the pharaoh mask back for Mike and thus, the latter would not get grounded by his dad. Andy, still wanting to help Mike with his love life, tells his best friend that he has another idea, but Liv tells him to drop it since she has a better one. Mike tries to stop Liv, but she tells Charlie that Mike is a huge Krush fanboy too and that he loves Ancient Egypt. This makes Charlie become interested in the subject, and Liv suggests to Mike that they should all go to the Collins Tower to show Charlie the pharaoh's mask from his dad's collection, without telling her that Andy has the mask in his backpack. Andy decides to follow his friends as the four all leave the school to get to the mansion, ending the episode.

Trivia[]
- Despite this being the third episode produced, it is always the second episode to premiere after "Bananice".
- Before the episode's worldwide premiere, the full episode animatic was uploaded on December 17, 2019, by the official SAMG Animation Vimeo channel.[1]
- There are many parts of the episode animatic that didn't make it to the final version:
- In the animatic, the video Charlie and her friends all watch features Krush showing off his moves with his double hammer. In the final version, the video shows Krush flying away from the recording.
- The cover of the magazine is noticeably different.
- The animatic features Michael Collins looking forward and gleefully pointing at the Pharases II mask as if he was photographed for the magazine. The picture of the basketball is also placed on the right side of the Basket logo. Also, Pharases II's name is shown on the magazine cover.
- However, in the final version, the magazine cover features a headshot of Michael Collins spinning the bottom of the mask on his finger as if it's a basketball while having a smug smile. The picture of the basketball on the logo is also placed on the left instead of the right.
- In the animatic, when Andy is explaining to Mike his plan to get him and Charlie together, Mike and Charlie in the equation are depicted with a full body shot. However, in the final version, Mike and Charlie are depicted with chibi faces.
- Unlike in the final version, Andy's cellphone in the animatic doesn't have any previous texts from Mike before the latter alerts him that he is ready to initiate his plan in the classroom. And not only that but the emoji Mike sent to Andy in the final version features a thumbs-up and Mike's face while the animatic only shows an emoji of a thumbs-up.
- When Andy unintentionally humiliates Mike in front of the class by playing Egyptian music, his phone screen is different in both the animatic and the final version. In the animatic, the screen features a picture of a pharaoh mask with the word "Pharaomix"; in the final version, the music Andy plays has an album art featuring a pharaoh-themed music note in front of a tiger.
- Unlike in the final version, Bobby isn't sleeping in the classroom in the animatic before the class all leaving the classroom due to Pharaok's heatwave effect.
- When Mike embarrassingly walks to his desk and notices Charlie, her desk is in front of his desk while Carla is sitting in front of Liv in the final version. However, in the animatic, Carla and Charlie switched places and as a result, Charlie was sitting in front of Liv while Carla was sitting in front of Mike instead.
- When Liv calls Miss Jones while she and her friends hide from Pharaok, Miss Jones' caller ID only appears in the animatic.
- The scene where the main trio gets to the underground lair is different in the animatic since they used their badges to transform the inside of their lockers into the pipe tubes instead of simply opening the locker door and getting inside like in the final version.
- When Andy reads the information on Miss Jones' interface about Pharaok, there's a picture of a blazing fire at the bottom right of the screen in the animatic instead of a diagram showing a hot thermometer and a pyramid in the final version.
- When Fury fired his meteor combo blast at Krush, the latter was transformed back to normal in the streets where there were cars around him. However, in the animatic, there were several mummies around Krush when he was turned back to normal.
- When the main trio all see Pharaok flies away, their Boo Energy has gone back up in the animatic. However, in the final version, their Boo Energy is still low.
- When Krush summons Growmax, the activation sequence is very different. In the animatic, Krush calls out Growmax's name before he smashes the ground and weakens Pharaok. This is unlike the final version where Krush summons Growmax by opening its capsule.
- Because there's a deleted scene where Mr. Vladovsky isn't present to see Pharaok coming out of Pharases II's mask and becoming the first of his mummified victims, he didn't willingly return the pharaoh mask to Mike at the end of the episode. Instead, Andy sneaks into Mr. Vladovsky's office and steals the mask back for Mike.
- There are nine deleted scenes that are seen in the animatic:
- When Mike leaves Central Park to get to his mansion to retrieve Pharases II's mask, Andy cheers out, "All right, bro! You got this!", catching the attention of two nearby parkgoers behind him.
- There're two scenes where a chemical flask starts boiling in Professor Pascal's classroom right after Pharaok releases a heatwave.
- When Professor Pascal's class leaves the classroom right before Pharaok escapes from the mask.
- Originally, Mr. Vladovsky witnesses Pharaok coming out of the mask at his office. However, because Mr. Vladovsky is absent in that scene in the final version, he doesn't become Pharaok's first victim. Instead, it was Professor Pascal. In addition, Mr. Vladovsky's absence caused a minor change to the episode's ending too. In the deleted ending, instead of Andy having to steal Pharases II's mask from Mr. Vladovsky's office for Mike, Mr. Vladovsky would have been freaked out by Pharaok coming out of the mask and mummified him that he willingly returned the mask to Mike without questioning.
- This scene must have changed when it's decided that Mr. Vladovsky would have a mysterious connection with wild ghosts. "Panikokado" later revealed that he works for Nolan Kasenti in intentionally releasing them to cause chaos in the city.
- When Charlie watches the mummified Krush walks towards Pharaok before the scene shows Myst saying, "We just lost Krush!".
- There's a scene where Pharaok flies away after Fury turns Krush back to normal.
- Because the animatic features the main trio having their Boo Energy gone back up as soon as Pharaok flies away, there's a deleted scene where Fury cheers, "Woohoo! We can fly again!".
- The animatic shows the aftermath of the Ghostforce defeating Pharaok where Charlie congratulates them which makes Krush flustered.
- Interestingly, this is the third time a television series from the ZAG Heroez label features an Egyptian-themed villain following The Pharaoh from Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir and Anubis from Zak Storm: Super Pirate.
- Alice Spancer, revealed to be a news reporter in later episodes, appears at the museum during the closing ceremony.
- This episode revealed that a ghost's nest can affect its surroundings based on its inhabitant's power.
- Mike's dad Michael Collins first appears in this episode and it is shown that he is a famous and wealthy basketball player and that he also owns a personal collection of Egyptian artifacts.
- In this episode, it is learned that Charlie has a crush on Krush, unaware that Krush is secretly Mike. In addition, Mike also has a huge crush on her.
- This episode features the first hint of Mr. Vladovsky's connection with the wild ghosts. After he confiscates the Mask of Pharases II from Mike, the ghost conveniently awakes in his office and he somehow isn't there to witness it. He must have recognized the mask being a nest for Pharaok, so he leaves it in his office and hides from Pharaok when it mummifies Professor Pascal and the students at the school.
- Despite Pharaok attacking lower Manhattan in this episode, Miss Jones mentioned that the heatwave the ghost released affected "all over New York [City]". Parts of New Jersey can be seen suffering from the heatwave as well.
- This marks the first episode where New York City and New Jersey both get affected by a wild ghost's attack.
- In the world of Ghostforce, a pharaoh named Pharases II is known to have successfully built a pyramid in a single day. But because the mask of Pharases II is revealed to be a nest for a ghost named Pharaok, it's unknown if Pharaok and Pharases II have any connection with each other.
- According to Professor Pascal, while no one understands how Pharases II was able to build his pyramid, some legends say that the pharaoh must have used paranormal forces to build the pyramid.
- This could mean that Pharaok helped Pharases II to build a pyramid, as it is shown in the episode that Pharaok can generate a giant pyramid structure.
- This is the first appearance of the "Locker Ritual" sequence, a repeated cutscene that features the main trio entering Miss Jones' underground laboratory.
- This episode reveals that Miss Jones is fueled by a ghost-like substance called Boo Energy.
- This is the first episode where Mike/Krush is affected by a wild ghost's power.
- This is the first episode where a Ghostforce member summons their ghost companion for a final attack on the wild ghost.
- This also marks the first appearance of Krush's ghost companion Growmax.
- When Andy follows his friends to the Collin mansion, he can be seen greeting Carla on his way.
Errors[]
- When the main trio is seen at the park for the first time, the bench on Andy's right is empty. When Andy complains to Charlie about the lack of Fury's action, an old lady suddenly appears sitting on the bench. However, the old lady must have taken a seat off-screen when Charlie talks about Krush.
- Stacy can be seen at the bench with Jane when the school exterior is first seen. However, the next scene shows Stacy suddenly appearing in the school hallways.
- Andy is incorrectly seen using a different locker when putting away his stuff before Mike arrives with the mask of Pharases II in his backpack. This is noticeable because the door isn't decorated with any stickers. Thus, it isn't his regular locker he normally uses during school and whenever he and his teammates head down to Miss Jones' lair.
- When the heatwave is seen spreading, a large of New Jersey is missing.
- When Pharaok first emerges, it is seen with black stripes. However, throughout the rest of the episode, Pharaok is seen with blue stripes instead of black stripes in its kawaï form.
- Every time Pharaok mummified his victims, the mummies all looked the same despite some of them having different heights and body types.
- Andy incorrectly says Pharaok instead of Pharases II after the pyramid is raised.
