Piktoo is a wild ghost from the spectral family.[note 1]

In "Piktoo", it was awakened from its nest after Andy Baker accidentally dropped his Ghostforce medallion onto the diamond.

Appearance[]

Kawai mode[]

In its kawai mode, Piktoo resembles a small black bird. It has a rounded body, blue eyes, a pair of wings with white upperside tips, a beak, and a pair of feet that have two toes.

Booster mode[]

In its booster mode, Piktoo resembles a black Pteranodon. It retains its white upperside tips on its wings but grows a rounded patch of white feathers on its chest and an additional toe on its feet.

Personality[]

Piktoo has a huge obsession with any objects it finds to be shiny and would steal them with the use of its spectral gates. This can range from a small golden ring to large vehicles like the 4 Lexington Avenue Express subway train. Once it enters booster mode, Piktoo becomes very territorial and creates a giant bird-like nest at the tallest place to dump all the items it has stolen. It would also attack anyone it perceives as a threat if it finds that they are going to steal anything back from it. Because of its penchant for shiny objects, Piktoo can get easily distracted by bright lights and had once chased after Glowboo's bulbsy trick in an attempt to collect it too. However, it seems to have an exception towards Boo Caps since it recognizes them as objects that can capture it.

History[]

Bridge episodes[]

At an unknown point, Piktoo found a diamond attached to a golden ring and began using it as a nest. In "Piktoo", a man purchased the ring from a jewelry store and proposed to his girlfriend at Central Park. His fiancée happily agreed and tackle-hugged him, but this resulted in him accidentally dropping the box and the diamond fell off the ring. The diamond got bounced until it landed behind a bush a few miles away from the park's Ferris wheel.

Later, Andy Baker was riding the Ferris wheel with his sister Liv Baker and their best friend Mike Collins when he accidentally activated the ride's safety protocol after putting his foot on top of the headrest. The Ferris wheel was briefly halted and caused Andy to drop his Ghostforce medallion onto the diamond. This awakened Piktoo who proceeded to wreak havoc at the park by stealing various shiny objects from their owners, including Andy's medallion, while also consuming people's screams every time it scared them. It then noticed Mike and Liv were holding their medallions which were shining from the Earth's sun, so the ghost instantly opened a spectral gate underneath the three kids. Andy and Mike both fell to the Grand Army Plaza with Piktoo following them, but Liv was luckily able to leap out of the way and transform into Myst.

Piktoo arrived at the Grand Army Plaza and stole Mike's medallion from him. When it noticed Myst was throwing a Boo Cap towards it, it opened a spectral gate and redirected the Boo Cap to hit Andy on the nose instead. Andy began screaming in pain as a result, which unintentionally allowed Piktoo to go into booster mode. The ghost flew up into the sky and created a giant bird-like nest on top of the Empire State Building where it could store its hoard. However, Piktoo wasn't fully satisfied and flew down to steal even more items around Manhattan.

Piktoo was in the middle of scaring a civilian at 5th Avenue when Glowboo caught its attention with a solar blast and Myst firing multiple spectral arrows at it. Seeing Myst and Glowboo as threats, Piktoo chased after the two heroes as they flew up towards its hoard. It was about to attack Glowboo when he created a bulbsy trick and distracted it from noticing Myst helping Andy and Mike get to the top of the Empire State Building. Eventually, Piktoo had enough and knocked out Glowboo by causing him to crash into a taxi cab at Times Square. It was about to steal Glowboo next, but Myst quickly came to his rescue and continued her fight against Piktoo.

Right when Piktoo was about to deliver a final blow towards Myst at 5th Avenue, a phone suddenly dropped in front of them. The ghost looked up and finally saw Andy and Mike inside its hoard nest. Realizing that the boys were trying to get back something Piktoo had stolen, the ghost opened a spectral gate underneath Mike to make him fall from the sky at a tremendous height. What the ghost didn't expect was Andy to find their medallions and jump down from the building too, allowing the boys to both transform into their superhero identities while in the air. Piktoo flew away when it saw Fury and Krush approaching, but it wasn't able to escape in time after Fury flung it towards One Times Square and Krush shut its beak with his fractal blast. Fury then released Dragoyle and deboosted a stunned Piktoo back to its kawai mode before capturing it. After Myst returned all of the items to their owners, the Ghostforce sent Piktoo to the Ghost Cloud where it now resides with the other captive ghosts.

Abilities[]

  • Levitation: Piktoo only levitates in its kawai mode. Once it enters booster mode, its main displacement is flight.
  • Intangibility: Piktoo can phase through solid objects. The only exceptions are when it is trapped in the Ghost Cloud or one of the Boo Caps. However, in its booster mode, Piktoo can stand on solid ground.
  • Spectral Gates: Much like Octocat, Piktoo can create blue portals that can transport subjects from one location to another. However, while it's unconfirmed if Octocat has a similar ability, Piktoo's spectral gates can only be created if it lets out a shriek.

Upon reaching booster mode, Piktoo can create a giant bird-like nest out of Boo Energy to store any items it collected.

Trivia[]

  • Piktoo's appearance and behavior are based on the stereotype that magpies can steal shiny objects and hoard them in their nests.
    • Myst even described Piktoo as the "bird of misfortune" in the French dub, alluding to a common superstition in Western culture that seeing one magpie can bring bad omens.
  • Piktoo, Arak, and Piraniak are the only known ghost specimens that are from the collector taxonomy. Coincidentally, they each had stolen something yellow during their attacks.
  • Because of their shared abilities to create spectral gates, both the Piktoo and Octocat specimens seem to be closely related.
  • Piktoo and Grump King are currently the only ghosts who have separated one or more member(s) of the Ghostforce from their medallions.
  • Piktoo, Glougloux, and Somnibou are the only known ghost specimens to have bird-like traits.
    • However, in its booster mode, Piktoo and Dinozos are the only known specimens that have a physical appearance similar to a dinosaur.
