Trivia[]

  • This is the second appearance of Carla's metal detector after "Meta&Lix". Starting this episode, she has upgraded it into a "bizarro detector" which she'll use to find items that have paranormal anomalies.
  • It's revealed Carla went to a lock-picking summer camp where she was taught how to use her bobby pin to unlock a lock.
  • During Andy's fantasy sequence about the Power Gold smartphone, his chibi design is based on a one-time chibi scene transition from "Trashotic".
  • Andy complained about how "Christmas is so far away" when he thinks his parents would never give him the Power Gold smartphone. The series would later have a Christmas special called "Panikokado".
  • This episode takes place on Drake's birthday.
  • The episode confirms that the school is located on 59th Street near the Grand Army Plaza. When Andy shouts in frustration after seeing Drake owns a Power Gold phone, the camera zooms out to reveal the school is located at the southeastern corner of Central Park.
    • The school's exact location took the place of the Plaza Hotel. Thus, the hotel doesn't exist in the Ghostforce universe.
  • This is the ninth episode that features the "Locker Ritual" sequence after "Pharaok", "Mikroo", "Cyclopee", "Glougloux", "Jinjoke", "Mascarade", "Batata", and "Dinozos".
  • This is the second episode where Miss Jones tested out an invention that messed up her hair after "Gumglue".
  • The release of the Power Gold smartphones is a parallel to a gold rush. Andy's obsession with "discovering" and wanting a Power Gold can be seen as him suffering from gold fever, a phenomenon where someone becomes greedy because of the gold rush. Ironically, Piraniak's powers caused his sister to suffer from the symptoms during the mission.
    • Fury tricking Piraniak into collecting the Statue of Liberty is a pun on fool's gold, a mineral that resembles gold but is commonly seen as worthless.
  • This is the twenty-second episode where one or more member(s) of the Ghostforce team got affected by a wild ghost's power.
  • This is the second time Miss Jones revealed to the team that she learned about a specific ghost when she was an undergraduate student. During her research for an unknown course discipline, she read a book where she discovered Piraniak had attacked a pirate ship from the Caribbean centuries ago before going to sleep in the treasure chest.
    • Because Miss Jones mentioned discovering a cave painting of Dinozos in the previous episode, it's assumed her college major is something related to human history where she secretly learned about the origins of ghosts.
    • Given that Piraniak's power is to hypnotize people into collecting gold for it, it is estimated that the ghost attacked the pirate ship between the 1650s and the 1730s during the Golden Age of Piracy.
  • This is the first known episode where a ghost almost leaves New York City to search for more gold. Had Fury not captured it in time, the ghost would have traveled to the neighboring Jersey City to terrorize its civilians.
  • This marks the first episode where the team is seen at Liberty Island.

Errors[]

  • The main trio was wearing their backpack when Liv and Mike got a message from Miss Jones. However, the backpacks disappear both in the "Locker Ritual" sequence and when they are in the lab.
  • Fury tricked Piraniak into collecting the Statue of Liberty which is painted gold and the ghost sucked it into its treasure chest. However, after Fury summons Dragoyle to deliver a final blow, the Statue of Liberty is mistakenly shown back on Liberty Island and is back to normal.
