“ | Oh, boy... That's Sporofungus! A Level 4 ghost of maximum grossness. | ” |
Sporofungus is a Level 4 wild ghost from the molecular family.
In "Sporofungus", it was awakened from its nest in the sewers after a maintenance man accidentally dropped his wrench onto the tin can.
Appearance[]
Kawai mode[]
Sporofungus is a yellowish-green ghost that resembles a mushroom. It has a yellow cap with six yellowish-green scales on its head, two small front limbs, and two upper and lower fangs. Its body has a hole on both sides where the ghost would exhale toxic fumes to its surroundings.
Booster mode[]
In its booster mode, Sporofungus has a larger cap on its head and a longer pair of limbs that resemble plant roots. The bottom of its cap has visible gills like an actual mushroom. It also has eight more holes on its body to fire its fungal fog.
Abilities[]
- Flight: Sporofungus can fly in both its kawai and booster modes.
- Intangibility: Sporofungus can phase through walls, floors, and generally solid objects. The only exception is when it is trapped in the Ghost Cloud or one of the Boo Caps.
- Fungus Breath: Sporofungus can release toxic fumes into the air. Anyone inhaling the fumes would be infected with pimples on their faces and have a terrible breath that smells like mushrooms. Despite Fury wearing an armor that covers his face, it implies anyone wearing a mask can have pimples appear on it.
- Fungal Fog: In its booster mode, Sporofungus can release toxic fog clouds that can transform anyone inhaling the fumes into an actual mushroom.
- Hat Trick: Sporofungus can retreat into its large mushroom cap to protect itself from incoming attacks. However, it is unable to use its abilities while hiding inside.

Trivia[]
- Sporofungus's name is a play on "spore of [a] fungus". Spores are reproductive cells released from a fungus, such as a mushroom, that develop into new individuals. Despite the ghost being a Level 4, its toxic fumes and fogs are similar to how an actual mushroom would release spores from its gills.
- Anyone breathing into Sporofungus's toxic fumes when the ghost is in its kawai mode would become infected with pimples. This also parallels real-life fungal infections that can occur anywhere in the body if one ever inhales the spores that are present in the air.
- Because real-life mushrooms release microscopic spores, it might explain why Sporofungus is part of the molecular family since its abilities can affect people's DNA if they ever inhale its fumes.
- The official Ghostforce website revealed that Sporofungus is from an uncommon specimen.[2]
- Sporofungus is the third ghost that stank up Manhattan with its toxic powers, following Spong and Sharkoak.
