Read transcript

"Sporofungus" is a season 1 episode of the series, Ghostforce. According to the series' production/written order, it is the 12th episode of Season 1, as well as the 12th episode of the series, overall.

Synopsis[]

Because Mike's directions are too complicated, Andy gets lost instead of joining his friends on the Ferris wheel. However, Sporofungus appears on the Ferris wheel, a disgusting mushroom ghost that is difficult to catch. To fight it as a team, the Ghostforce needs to communicate better!

Plot[]

The episode begins with a plumber in the sewers trying to fix a pipe using a wrench. He pushes the wrench on the pipe too much, that it slips from his hands, and falls down a hole in the sewers where all the trash is stored. The wrench happens to hit a mushroom food can and awakens Sporofungus, a disgusting mushroom ghost. Sporofungus decides to start it's first attack by stinking up the plumber.

Later the screen switches to Mike and Liv, who are standing in front of a line, at the Ferris Wheel. Andy is seen running trying to follow Mike's directions, while on a phone call with him. Mike tells him that he should see a lamp post with the number "2726", and Andy replies saying that he is standing beside a lamp post with the number "2421". Mike tells him he is in the wrong path and starts rushing to giving him way more complicated directions. Liv tells Mike that he should explain slowly to Andy without rushing the directions. Andy runs all across the field trying to find the lamp post with the correct number, unbeknownst that Sporofungus is stinking up everything behind him with a smelly odor.

Meanwhile, Mike and Liv are inside the Ferris Wheel, and Mike continues explaining the path to the Wheel. He rushes again with his descriptions and Liv tries to give him a slower explanation. When Andy finally reaches the Ferris Wheel, he sees a bunch of citizens running away from Sporofungus, and transforms behind a tree. Mike calls Miss Jones about the mushroom ghost and she claims the ghost to have the power to give a smelly odor, and turn citizens to replicas of a mushroom if it enters booster mode. Liv calls the ghost "cute" and Miss Jones says not to be fooled by it's looks, as it is very powerful and dangerous.

Fury stands in front of Sporofungus and manages to tie the ghost with his slimy tentacle, while holding a Boo Caps in his left hand. However, Sporofungus is still able to move pretty quickly, and Fury tries to dodge all the odors around. Fury manages to get himself out of the situation by leaving the tentacle behind, and Sporofungus then tries to hide by from Fury by phasing into the ground. Fury chases after it, while Liv asks Miss Jones to bring in Glowboo. Miss Jones says Glowboo is already in his way, and he suddenly appears blasting a white light on the ground that repels the smelly odors around. Both Mike and Liv then transform into Krush and Myst.

The operator of the Ferris Wheel is trying to run away from the smelly odor that Glowboo repelled to his side. While trying to escape, he accidentally ends up breaking the Ferris Wheel speed button, and the Wheel goes haywire. Luckily, Glowboo tries to hold the Wheel in position, and says there is only 25 seconds left, before the Wheel moves too fast and is out of his hands. Myst creates a portal to teleport everyone on the Wheel to the NYC school.

At the moment, Fury and Krush is seen in front of Sporofungus and ready to face it. Krush blasts an ice droplet at Sporofungus, but Fury captures it using his slimy tentacle and moves it away from Sporofungus. Sporofungus phases through the ground at this time, and then suddenly appears behind Fury and affects him with the smelly odors. After that, Fury fights with Krush angrily asking him on why he did that. He starts to call him names like four-inch and that starts to bring outside-related things like how he was late to the Ferris Wheel. Fury tells him why can't he just listen for once, without pushing people aside.

Myst appears above them and tells them to stop fighting, and they all fly towards the ghost. Fury gets in front of Myst who is in the lead, and tries to blame Krush for the reason Sporofungus had escaped from him. Krush tells him that it wasn't his fault, and Myst repeatedly asks them to stop fighting. Glowboo seems more excited to defeat the ghost and flies past them, but then notices Sporofungus entering booster mode. At the time when the Ghostforce arrives, they find Sporofungus turning everyone in the area into a mushroom. Myst generates a portal for them to escape, while Glowboo moves towards the ghost trying to blast it with his orange beams. Sporofungus dodges Glowboo, but the four manage to reconnect with each other and follow Sporofungus.

In the meantime, Fury and Myst develop a plan to defeat the ghost, and Krush feels left behind. Glowboo says that using his brain scan, he can tell that Krush is feeling stress. Krush says that he only knows him, but doesn't understand what he feels. Suddenly, Glowboo cuts the conversation by asking him if he speaks Latin. Krush says that "Latin has that" that everything is just more complicated. Glowboo says Miss Jones should reprogram him to understand Latin and see things more clearly, and that's why he was created. The words get in Krush's mind and he becomes more confident with a plan developed on how to stop Sporofungus.

Fury and Myst are attacking Sporofungus, but it then suddenly disappears, and they can't find it anywhere. Sporofungus appears behind them and tries to turn them into mushrooms, before Krush emerges and manages to blast a huge ice patch on it's head. Fury compliments Krush on his idea and tells him that it was very good, before Sporofungus starts to move ramp fire, as if it has almost no control over it's movements.

Fury and Myst are flying behind Sporofungus, who keeps on trying to give out it's smelly odors to them. They happen to dodge them and Myst then creates a two-way portal, while Fury ties Sporofungus again, only this time manages to complete this goal. With the help from Krush, he pushes Sporofungus into the portal that leads it to the ground, then Krush summons Growmax to weaken the ghost back to it's kawai. Later, the citizens of New York praises Ghostforce for their work, while Glowboo is seen in the streets excited about the ghost's defeat, ending this episode.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first episode where a ghost is awakened before the title card is seen.
  • This episode takes place after the events of "Trashotic". Despite Carla claiming in the latter episode that it would "take years to clean" the Ferris wheel after Fury accidentally fires his flexi slime onto it, the Ferris wheel is shown to be running again since Professor Pascal takes his student to a surprise field trip there. This implied that the park staff removed Fury's flexi slime a few months after the accident.
  • When Liv notices Sporofungus's kawai form from Miss Jones's interface, she excitedly states that she "can't wait to domesticate it". This indirectly confirmed that the Ghostforce's goal is to domesticate every wild ghost they capture to prevent them from causing more chaos in the city and assist them in their missions. It also explains why the main trio would summon their respective ghosts to prepare a final blow on a wild ghost before capturing one.
  • This is the third episode where the transformation sequence only features Mike and Liv after "Mastaar" and "Arakgum".
  • This is the third episode that features a wild ghost releasing a foul stench in Manhattan after "Trashotic" and "Sharkoak".
  • This is the sixth episode where one or more member(s) of the Ghostforce team become affected by a wild ghost's power.
    • This is the second time Fury appears to have a smelly odor all over his body, following "Trashotic". However, this time he was affected by the titular ghost in the episode, instead of it being a normal, accidental cause.
  • It is revealed that other than speaking English, Glowboo can supposedly also speak Latin and possibly other forms of languages.
  • This episode is the first that doesn't feature the aftermath of the Ghostforce capturing a wild ghost.
