Swip and Swap (known collectively as Swip Swap) are a pair of wild ghosts from the molecular family.[note 1]

In "Swip Swap", the twins were both awakened from their shared nest after it was accidentally stepped on by a civilian at Times Square.

Appearances[]

Kawai modes[]

While it's unknown which twin is Swip and Swap, they both have physical traits that resemble a monkey. Their faces are rounded with two large eyebrows, black scleras, and a pair of magenta eyes. They also have a tuft of hair on their heads, a magenta tongue, and a long monkey-like tail. The twins have inverted color schemes of each other, with one being dark purple and the other being white.

Booster modes[]

Swip and Swap both have their physical appearance changed to resemble a pair of monkey hands. Their faces are located at the "palm" of the hands, but the tuffs of hair that were on their heads have been relocated onto their wrists, which are like the fur of a monkey. Their long tails are also wrapped together to prevent the twins from ever getting separated while flying in the air. The purple twin serves as the left hand, while the white twin serves as the right hand.

Personalities[]

Swip and Swap share the same mischievous personality and enjoy messing with individuals by swapping their bodies. They work extremely well together and hate being separated, not only because they must be connected to use their powers but because they are shown to genuinely love each other as siblings. Despite being ghosts, they are surprisingly able to understand the concept of hand gestures. This likely stemmed from them observing how humans use their hands to create nonverbal communication with each other. When the twins were shown going to booster mode together, they briefly did a secret handshake to express their bond.

History[]

Bridge episodes[]

At an unknown point in time, the twins both found a yin-yang necklace and began using it as their nest. In "Swip Swap", it was being delivered to the Roadway Musical theater for Crystal Dunk's show. While Anwar was carrying the box that has the necklace, she stepped on a basketball that Mark accidentally dropped, causing the necklace to fall off the box and landed onto the sidewalk curb. Unfortunately, neither Anwar nor Mark noticed it was missing and went inside the theater to set up for the show. The necklace was left on the curb for hours and, for some reason, no one noticed it.

When Michael Collins was surrounded by his fans after he arrived at the theater to see Crystal Dunk with his son Mike Collins and the Baker siblings, he reluctantly signed a basketball belonged to one of his fans. He then noticed how upset Mike was, so Mr. Collins tossed the signed basketball aside to follow his son. This set up a chain reaction where his fans all fought over the ball and one of them accidentally stepped onto the necklace, separating two spirals and awakening the twins. As soon as they left the necklace, Swip and Swap both immediately scared Mr. Collins's fans and fed on their fears. They noticed Mike and his father while everyone else was running away, so Swip and Swap charged towards them. Mr. Collins used himself as a shield to protect his son, but Swip and Swap easily phased through them and swapped the Collins' bodies. The twin ghosts then went to 5th Avenue to continue wreaking havoc in Manhattan.

After ingesting enough fear from the scared civilians, Swip and Swap went into booster mode together and became known collectively as Swip Swap. Fury and Myst both arrived at the scene and tried to take them down before the two ghosts could create further chaos with their energy beams. Fury unleashed his flexible slime at one of the twins, but it grabbed onto the slime and tossed him aside. Swip Swap then noticed Roland working at the Ghost Dog and they were about to mess with him next, but Myst appeared in front of the twins and fired her spectral arrow. The twins swapped the spectral arrow with a sausage that Roland was holding, inadvertently revealing to the Ghostforce that they can only make any inanimate objects switch places with each other.

Glowboo then arrived and rescued Fury and Myst from Swip Swap before the Baker siblings could become their next victims. While he was in the middle of dragging Fury and Myst, one of the twins flew ahead and attempted to swat him away. However, Glowboo stopped it with the use of his solar powers, much to the ghost's surprise. The twins then continued to chase after the Ghostforce until they were all back at Times Square. When Swip Swap saw Fury charging towards them with his Flexy Beam, they used their powers and made Fury swap places with a trash bag in an alleyway dumpster.

Later, Glowboo and Fury both taunted and provoked Swip Swap into unleashing two energy beams at them. Before the beams could touch the two Ghostforce members, Myst opened two spectral gates and redirected the beams into hitting Mike and his father instead, restoring them to their normal bodies. This allowed Mike to transform into Krush and assist his teammates in fighting Swip Swap. The Ghostforce used their powers and successfully separated the twins from each other. Myst then released Octocat and weakened the two ghosts back to their kawai mode before capturing them, restoring everyone to their normal bodies. Swip and Swap were later sent to the Ghost Cloud where they now reside with the other captive ghosts.

Abilities[]

  • Levitation: Swip and Swap can levitate in their kawai and booster modes.
  • Intangibility: Swip and Swap can phase through solid objects. The only exception is when they are trapped in the Ghost Cloud or one of the Boo Caps.

In their kawai modes, Swip and Swap can switch the body of two people by phasing through them. The twins would then touch their tails together to create static electricity for the process to work. Once they both enter booster mode, the twins can let out an energy beam from their mouths to swap people's bodies much faster. Interestingly, the twins would switch places with each other every time they used their powers.

In their booster modes, but if one of their targets isn't a living being and is instead an inanimate object, then it would result in both targets getting teleported to each other's places instead.

Because their booster modes resemble a giant pair of monkey hands, Swip Swap can use their bodies to defend themselves. They can swing their hands to knock people aside, trap people with a single clap of their hands, and create a fist to cover their eyes.

Trivia[]

  • In the French version, the twins are known as "Flip" and "Floop".
    • Their French name is a pun on the English word "flip-flop". While the term is commonly known for a pair of sandals, a "flip-flop" is also a type of circuit that can store binary data with its two stable states. This is a reference to the twins creating static electricity whenever they switch people's bodies. "Flip-flop" can also be used as a verb where something is being switched back and forth.
  • Their shared nest being a yin-yang necklace alludes to the fact they share the same color scheme as the He tu symbol. The twins were able to sleep inside the necklace since it was able to withstand being thrown around without waking them up. However, the necklace's two interlocking spirals being able to split apart led to their awakening because Swip and Swap don't like to be separated from each other.
  • This is the second pair of ghost twins that the second iteration of the Ghostforce had ever captured, following Meta&Lix. Coincidentally, both sets of twins are from the molecular family.
    • Unlike Meta and Lix, Swip and Swap don't fuse into a singular being since they can only use their powers while working together.
  • Swip and Swap are both the second known ghost specimen that has monkey-like traits, following Jinjoke.
  • The twins having body swapping powers is based on a fictional media trope known as the "Freaky Friday Flip".
