"Tortress" is a bridge episode of Ghostforce. According to the series' production/written order, it is the first bridge episode, as well as the 56th episode of the series, overall.
Synopsis[]
TFOU[]
Behind her impregnable shell, Tortress slows down everything in her path and gives the Ghostforce a hard time. To face it, Liv will have to learn that everyone moves at their own pace.
Plot[]
The episode opened at Central Park where Liv and Carla were getting ready for a scavenger hunt. Their goal was to gather every sticker hidden in the park so they could win the game. Liv, who wanted to win before their opponents, immediately ran off to find the stickers first with Carla following suit. Unbeknownst to the two friends, there was a ghost nest underneath the Gapstow Bridge they were standing on.
Meanwhile, Andy and Mike were also at the park. While Andy was placing his order at the Ghost Dog stand, Liv rushed past the boys with Carla trying to catch up with her. After greeting the girls, Mike commented that Andy's sister was like a rocket because of how fast she ran.
Liv and Carla found various stickers around Central Park during the scavenger hunt. However, it's mostly Liv since she figured out the clues before Carla without letting her solve them at her own pace. As the girls collected more stickers, Carla became increasingly upset about not being able to figure it out herself.
While all this was happening, a cyclist was riding her bike and she rode past two scavenger hunt players at the Gapstow Bridge. Her fast speed startled the two players and caused one of them to drop her apple from the bridge. The apple landed on the ghost nest and caused it to awaken Tortress, a tortoise-like ghost who can decelerate people's movement like a slow-motion effect. Upon awakening, the ghost began terrorizing the parkgoers, including the cyclist indirectly responsible for its awakening.
As for Carla and Liv, the two have only one sticker left until they finish the scavenger hunt. Liv tried to help, but Carla refused and wanted to try solving it on her own. After a few guesses on what the final picture on the map was supposed to represent, including a flying saucer, Liv finally lost her patience and pointed out to Carla that the picture was the Ferris wheel they were standing in front of. Realizing how silly she was, Carla became upset and told Liv about her issues; not only was Carla slow for not picking up any clues throughout the game, but she believed she was not as smart as Liv since the latter managed to collect every single sticker before her. Carla ran off, but before Liv followed to comfort her, she finally noticed the ghost attacking the parkgoers. Knowing that she must resolve her issues with Carla later, Liv rushes to hide behind the bleachers to transform and call Andy and Mike from her ghostphone.
Speaking of them, the boys were still at the Ghost Dog stand since Andy asked Roland for a big order. After finally finishing making Andy the hot dog he wanted, Roland handed it to him and felt proud of his work. However, before Andy paid Roland, Mike suddenly received a call from Myst from his ghostphone and whispered to Andy about another ghost attack that happened. The boys leave the Ghost Dog stand to find someplace to hide and transform into their superhero identities. However, Lieutenant Callaghan, who was waiting impatiently in line and was bewildered by Andy's big order, realized that Andy hadn't paid for his meal and followed them behind a bush. The boys managed to avoid accidentally getting their secret identities exposed when the police officer screamed at them for presumably stealing from Roland.
While the boys were dealing with their mistake, Myst contacted Miss Jones from the underground laboratory about the ghost. The scientist informed her that the ghost was Tortress, a level 4 ghost whose tortoiseshell would become a fortress upon switching to booster mode. She let her know that Glowboo would be joining the team as reinforcement. That is when she realized Fury and Krush weren't with Myst and asked her where they were.
Andy paid Roland for the hot dog and they apologized for their mistake. Lieutenant Callaghan wanted to arrest the boys for thievery, but Roland forgave them and revealed to the police officer that Andy is his best customer so he understood that they were in a hurry. Callaghan looked at the clipboard Roland showed him and got bewildered upon seeing that Andy had stolen his spot as the Ghost Dog's number one best customer. While the police officer complained to Roland about it, Mike and Andy both sneak off and transform.
While Fury and Krush were on their way, Myst followed Tortress to Times Square where it switched to booster mode after causing three more people to become slower. Now resembling a giant tortoise, the ghost began terrorizing the Manhattanites by firing out tortoiseshell-like projectiles at them. Fury and Krush finally arrive and join Myst in trying to battle the ghost who uses its shell as a fortress to protect itself from their attacks. Glowboo also arrived shortly after to protect Fury from Tortress's spin attack. The team realized that Tortress's head was its weakness since it always retreated into its carapace like an actual tortoise. Myst, wanting to capture the ghost quickly, told Krush to hit the ghost on its head. Krush tried to tell Myst that the ghost was too fast and he wouldn't be able to stop it, but Myst assured him before opening a Spectral Gate for him.
Krush was about to punch Tortress's head, but the ghost heard the incoming attack and quickly dodged him before firing a projectile at him. Krush tried to block the attack, but it was too late. The projectile hit him and his movement decelerated under the effect of Tortress's power. As the ghost flew off, the team checked on Krush to see if he was okay. Despite speaking slowly, Krush understood what his teammates said and assured him he was fine. Myst apologized to Krush for indirectly causing him to be affected by the ghost and she should have let him do things at his own pace to prevent it from happening. This sparked an idea for Myst on how they can defeat Tortress and the team followed the ghost to the Brooklyn Bridge, with Fury having to carry Krush since the latter can't fly fast enough.
At the bridge, Tortress terrorized everyone by making them run away in slow motion and fed on their fear. The team arrived at the bridge after Myst explained to them her plans; Krush would slowly fire his fractal power from behind, while the rest of the team distracted Tortress so it won't anticipate the incoming attack. Her plan successfully worked after Tortress accidentally fired its projectile at Krush's approaching fractal attack, causing the ghost to be trapped under the ice and preventing it from moving its head. Myst then summoned Octocat for a final blow at Tortress, weakening the ghost back to its kawai mode and trapping it in a Boo Capsule. With Tortress's capture, everyone affected by its power returned to normal.
Liv headed to Central Park after capturing the ghost where she apologized to Carla for not letting her solve the scavenger hunt clues at her own pace because of her impatience. Carla forgave Liv and together, they decided to start the scavenger hunt again to make up for it.

Trivia[]
- One of the pictures on the scavenger hunt map is a snail. The snail symbolizes the moral of the episode which is to take things slowly and there's no need to rush all the time.
- There are four instances of a person or two rushing into something which causes them to make a mistake without intending to.
- Liv didn't place the stickers neatly above the pictures on the map because she was in a hurry to win the scavenger hunt.
- A cyclist indirectly causes the awakening of Tortress because she rode her bike so fast that she accidentally startled two parkgoers into dropping an apple onto its nest.
- Andy and Mike rush to transform after receiving a call from the latter's ghostphone, forgetting to pay Roland for Andy's meal and almost getting arrested by Callaghan for stealing. It also led to their secret identities as members of the Ghostforce being almost discovered by the police officer since he followed them in their hiding place.
- Myst asked Krush to try attacking Tortress from behind at Times Square despite Krush's concern that the ghost is too fast for him to do so. This indirectly caused Krush to get affected by the ghost's power since Tortress anticipated him and quickly dodged his attack.
- During the scavenger hunt montage, the NYC school can be seen in the background after Liv finds another sticker.
- One of the toppings Andy ordered for his hot dog at the Ghost Stand includes a frog leg, something Roland added for his Dino Dog from "Dinozos".
- The episode reveals that Andy is Roland's best customer at the Ghost Dog, having stolen the number one position from Callaghan.
- This is the eighth episode where the transformation sequence only features Andy and Mike after "Mikroo", "Chronoklok", "Jellystery", "Meta&Lix", "Cookieflame", "Biballoon", and "Jellyjack".
- When Tortress caused three pre-teen girls to move slower, they were playing Spook Out on their phones.
- This is one of the many episodes where Krush got affected by a wild ghost's attack.
- A parkgoer can be seen reading a newspaper with Mr. Collins featured on the front page when a cyclist crashed into a bush after she was restored to normal because of Tortress's capture.
Errors[]
- Miss Jones's goggles disappear on her head after she accidentally causes a chemical explosion when Myst contacts her.
