A cocoon! Oh, this is bad. Soon, there won't be just one ghost to fight, there'll be dozens! You only have minutes to stop the OG as in "original ghost".

Miss Jones, "Xhypno"

Xhypno is a Level 9 wild ghost from the spectral family.

In "Xhypno", it was awakened from its nest after Mike Collins accidentally stepped on the brooch without noticing.

Appearance[]

Kawai mode[]

Xhypno is a rounded light pink ghost in kawai form. It has glowing light magenta eyes, dark purple scleras, four white teeth, and two tiny legs. It also has a darker pink crystal cluster on its back.

Booster mode[]

Xhypno's booster mode resembles a large blue butterfly with six legs and a tail. It has three pink crystals embedded on the front of each side of its wings and one mini crystal on its head antennae. The crystals on its wings create a pink glow carving connecting to its main body part.

Abilities[]

  • Flight: Xhypno can fly in both its kawai and booster modes.
  • Intangibility: Xhypno can phase through walls, floors, and generally solid objects. The only exception is when it is trapped in the Ghost Cloud or one of the Boo Caps.
  • Hypno Crystal: In its kawai mode, Xhypno can use its crystal to mesmerize people by flashing at them. Once its victims were under its control, they would gather various flowers and plants to create nests for the ghost while saying its name.
  • Hypno Wings: In its booster mode, the crystals on Xhypno's wings can easily mesmerize more people by flying over them.
  • Crystal Wings: The crystals on Xhypno's wings are resilient and can be used as blades to attack its enemies. However, they can get easily shattered by high-pitched sounds.
  • Crystal Gust: Xhypno can use its wings to knock away enemies with a single flap. This ability is unused, but confirmed on the official Ghostforce website.[1]
  • Crystalide: The crystal wings are very resilient, allowing Xhypno to shield itself from any incoming attacks.
  • Crystal Blast: Xhypno can fire crystal shards from its mouth to attack its enemies at a large range.
  • Crystal Cocoons: Being a Level 9 ghost, Xhypno would reproduce asexually by creating up to eighteen cocoons after ingesting enough fear in its booster mode. The cocoons would hatch within a few minutes as the offspring start to grow inside, but they are completely immune to sonic screams. They would all fade from existence if the parent ghost got captured in a Boo Cap before any offspring can hatch.

Trivia[]

Xhypno 168

One of Xhypno's eighteen offspring inside its egg.

  • Xhypno is the first known Level 9 ghost to appear in the series. Unlike Droplet who's a Level 7 ghost that can create clones of itself, Xhypno's featured episode revealed to the audience that Level 9 ghosts would produce offspring once they consumed enough fear in its booster mode.
  • Its eggs being cocoons made out of crystals is a pun on the English word "chrysalis".
  • According to the official Ghostforce website, Xhypno is from a rare specimen.[1]
    • This might explain why Miss Jones initially had no information about the ghost when the Ghostforce first encountered it.
  • Xhypno having a different physical appearance in kawai and booster modes is parallel to that of metamorphosis. Its kawai mode is compared to that of a caterpillar, while its booster mode resembles an actual butterfly or a moth.
  • Xhypno, Mastaar, Zipzap, and Chaorion are the only known ghosts that already have an established name within their specimen. The reason is that each of these four ghost specimens can hypnotize its victims into chanting its name out loud.
  • Xhypno has laid around eighteen cocoons in Manhattan but its offspring all faded from existence after it was captured.
  • Ironically, despite Stacy's scream shattering all of Xhypno's crystals on its wings, none of its cocoons were shattered by it.
  • A picture of Xhypno in its booster mode is featured on Miss Jones's supercomputer database in the training room of the underground laboratory.
