“ | You're dealing with a level-four hypno-electro ghost called Zipzap. And things will really spark off if it engages its boosters. So you better catch that tadpole before it's too late! And don't look at the screens! | ” |
"Zipzap" is a season 1 episode of the series, Ghostforce. According to the series' production/written order, it is the 9th episode of Season 1, as well as the 9th episode of the series, overall.
Synopsis[]
Zipzap attacks users of the new video game with their phone screens and freezes them.
Plot[]
The episode begins in a foggy park with a pond within the parkgrounds. A garbage collector picks up a pop can from the pond’s wooden deck, which is when he notices that a small boat tied to the deck, filled with trash. He sighs, and calls to ask for a dumpster in section 4. Purple sparks fizz around a TV set in the boat, and then send out a wave across the area. The collector’s phone call is cut due to no signal, and he grumbles again, walking away with his trash bag. The TV continues fizzing and flickering on and off ominously.
On a busy, traffic-filled road in New York, Mike and his father, Michael, are in a car. Michael plays a videogame on his phone as Mike says that he’s going to be late, and that his friends are waiting for him. Michael dismisses him, and continues playing, until Mike sarcastically asks if whatever he’s doing on his phone is business again, to which Michael laughs nervously and agrees.
Vehicles continue to honk outside, and Mike says that he’ll just walk, getting out of the car. Michael reaches out to say something to Mike, but is interrupted by a phone call.

Trivia[]
- Michael is a new player of Spook Out called "The Slammer" which was foreshadowed at the beginning of the episode when he is seen playing it in his car. Because he's distracted with the game, it causes him not to notice the traffic light already turned green and the cars behind him impatiently honking at him for blocking the lane.
- Another foreshadowing that Mike and his father are both top players on Spook Out is when Andy and Liv described Mike as being famous "like father like son".
- Andy described Spook Out as a "virus" because of how addictive the game is to the players. This foreshadows the problem the Ghostforce trio is facing when Zipzap attacks the city and hypnotizes anyone with their phones.
- This episode reveals that Mike is insecure about being the son of Michael Collins, a famous basketball player in Manhattan. He also described himself and his father as "[living] on two different planets", believing neither have something in common since Mike is not interested in sports like his father. This episode shows that the two love each other dearly despite their difference in interests.
- This is the third episode in which a wild ghost caused a storm to occur in Manhattan when it's in booster mode, after "Bananice" and "Mastaar".
- This is also the second episode where it features a ghost that has the power to mind-control victims after "Mastaar".
- Coincidentally, Mastaar and Zipzap cause their victims to say the wild ghost's name while hypnotized. However, Mastaar can only freeze people when it's in booster mode, unlike Zipzap which could freeze people even when not in booster mode.
- When Myst tells Krush to prepare the Boo Caps, Krush takes out Growmax's Boo Cap instead of a regular Boo Cap. However, it's likely this is intentional and not an error since Krush is too distracted playing Spook Out that he takes out the wrong Boo Cap to capture Zipzap.
- In this episode, Michael Collins decides to publish a shoe brand to the world. According to himself, he was inspired by his son, Mike.
- This is the fourth episode where one or more member(s) of the Ghostforce become affected by a wild ghost's powers.
- However, this is the first episode where Myst gets affected by a wild ghost.
Errors[]
- After Krush summoned Growmax to defeat Zipzap, the scene after the final blow happened didn't have any lightning clouds in the sky.
